2/9/2024 0 Comments Nicole off grid twitter![]() ![]() They also told us they wanted to share their story about the benefits of living in a yurt by bringing more awareness to off the grid yurt living. We’ve since launched a video series covering their incredible journey that takes viewers through their process of building a yurt and living in the ruggedness of Canada’s wilderness. To learn more about their adventures, we sent them a Q&A to see what it’s like to live off the grid in a Pacific Yurt. Let’s start with a quick introduction of you and your yurt. We run a couple of successful YouTube channels. What inspired you to pursue an off the grid yurt lifestyle? And we live in a 30 foot Pacific Yurt located on North Vancouver Island. Jake : I traveled throughout China and Mongolia when I was 21 years old. While in the grasslands of Mongolia, I stayed in a traditional Mongolian Yurt – it was an amazing experience! I remember loving the design and feeling of warmth and comfort that the yurt gave me while I was wrapped in wool blankets safe inside that Mongolian Yurt. Nicole and I also enjoy watching YouTube videos of families and couples who build and live in unique housing. What made Pacific Yurts standout over other structures or companies on the market? We relished the chance to design our own yurt interior, so we thought a Pacific Yurt would be the perfect dwelling for our move to raw forested property in Canada! Many of the families we saw living in Yurts had these amazing living spaces that looked comfortable and quite beautiful. ![]() Jake: We researched about 10 other yurt companies before choosing Pacific Yurts. ![]() We kept coming back to their yurts because they looked very clean, resilient, and mindfully designed around the structure’s traditions, but with added modern features. ![]() We were also impressed by Pacific Yurts’ professional social media pages, which allowed us to see a wide variety of ways their yurts were built and lived in among hundreds of different settings. #LIVING OFF GRID JAKE AND NICOLE PROFESSIONAL# We loved being able to use the Pacific Yurts 3D Yurt Builder on their website to customize a yurt and see what ours would look like!įinally, of all the companies we looked at, Pacific Yurts was the most helpful and responsive to our questions and our ideas when we communicated with them over email or by phone. We just knew their helpfulness and professionalism with our situation would carry over into their yurt design!Ĭan you talk about the assembly process and what that’s been like? Nicole: The assembly process had its moments. I would say the most challenging part was building the yurt platform. In fact, it took us a lot longer to finish the platform because we were building the platform over three feet high on very uneven ground. However, when we started to put the Yurt together, it was a blast. Unwrapping each piece was like opening a Christmas present for us. Seeing the French doors, the glass windows, the frames for the windows and the dome brought tears to my eyes. What’s it like living in an off the grid yurt? #LIVING OFF GRID JAKE AND NICOLE WINDOWS# Jake: It’s been a fun and challenging adventure! Our property can only be accessed by boat, so our materials had to be barged over to us. We also had to cut our way into our land and clear a spot for the yurt because our property was so heavily forested and raw. After clearing the space, we built the platform and assembled the yurt in about a month–despite the snow, rain, black flies, and mosquitos attempting to stop us! Once the platform was finished, we waited for a stretch of sunny weather to happen, which let us put up our yurt in just three days. I must say, Nicole really enjoyed the process of putting up the yurt because it went by so fast. It also made us feel very accomplished, and we found the structure itself to be designed so mindfully. We felt so much accomplishment and joy when we were able to sleep in our new yurt on night one! Nicole: We genuinely love the look of the Yurt! Our living space has such a relaxing and geometric look to it. And the ring, dome and rafters remind me of the sun putting off rays of sunshine. The Yurt allows us to hear the sounds of nature that surround us while keeping us mosquito and bug-free. #LIVING OFF GRID JAKE AND NICOLE WINDOWS#.#LIVING OFF GRID JAKE AND NICOLE SERIES#.#LIVING OFF GRID JAKE AND NICOLE PROFESSIONAL#. ![]() ![]() ![]() They’re currently conducting a study among their client base, and will then publish an article in a medical journal, hoping to attract funding so that they can perform real clinical trials.Īll of Leinow’s research is packed into his book: CBD: A Patient’s Guide to Medicinal Cannabis: Healing without the High. THC and CBD go after the same receptors in the body, so even if someone did overdose on THC (which is so difficult, you’d almost have to be trying to), the CBD would knock some of those THC molecules off the receptors.įrom the plant comes THC and CBD and a ton of phytocannabinoids. After 3 months of using the CBD product, she got an MRI scan, and the tumor was 50% of what it had been. Leinow made a tincture that was primarily CBD and sent her home with it. Chemo didn’t do anything, and she’d been given six months to live. This patient had a lung tumor that was too big to operate on and too big to radiate. He had just come across a strain of cannabis called Harlequin that had about twice as much CBD in it as normal strains. Nine years ago, one of Leinow’s clients had cancer. Why the interviewer asks why you want to leave your job While there are many different reasons for leaving your job, the way you articulate your motivations in your job interview is crucial. When a hiring manager poses this job interview question, the answer you give carries a lot of weight. Most interviewers ask candidates why they’re looking for a new job and it’s natural that your recruiter, potential employer and even your friends and family will be curious about your motives for leaving and looking for a new job. “My company recently moved their office across town and now my morning commute is about 90 minutes and I need to be closer to home.Knowing how to explain your reason for leaving your current job during an interview is an important part of your interview preparation. “My current position is being eliminated as a result of corporate downsizing and I have been informed that I have 30 days left to work there.”Ħ. You don’t need to make book out of this answer, just something short and positive is best.Īfter all, it really does not matter to the interviewer, as long as you don’t say something foolish. There is no right answer to this question, only wrong ones. Instead, tell the interviewer something positive about your co-workers and previous company. I don’t care how bad you hate your current company, manager, co-workers, salary – never bring that up in the interview. The interviewer will then assume you will act the same way at this company and be a bad influence. If you start bad-mouthing them in the interview, you will immediately be flagged as having a negative attitude towards your co-workers. ![]() Remember, the interviewer does not know your previous manager or fellow employees. Hating your manager is not a reason to leave your jobĭon’t even hint at the fact that you hated your manger and avoid sarcastic remarks. But to be clear, do not list any of these reasons for leaving your current job in an interview because the interviewer will not be impressed and you will probably lose any chance of getting the job.Īvoid making negative remarks about your past or present manager, your fellow employees, or the company you are working for – even if they are true! Perhaps you are severely underpaid and just need more money. Maybe your reputation was tarnished by a formal reprimand and staying there is emotionally draining. Maybe you were never very excited to be there in the first place and only ever accepted the job to pay the bills. On the other hand, you may not have gotten along with your manager or co-workers. There are usually only a few reasons someone really wants to leave their job and, surprisingly, money does not rank at the top of the list. Avoid being dishonest with this question, for what ever reason, your interviewer may spot it and believe there is something you are not saying. This question can be answered in several ways, but do your best to keep your answer short. ![]() ![]() They're constantly working on puzzles and aren't able to stop!
